Bronx Lacrosse: Fall 2020 Highlights
FALL BLENDED PROGRAMMING SUCCESSES
Since July, we’ve held daily in-person, COVID-safe practices to give our students a chance to connect with teammates, get fresh air and exercise, and have FUN! Over 90% of our players are reaping the benefits of in-person programming, and we're proud to say we’ve also recruited 50 new students into the Bronx Lacrosse family.
110 (and counting!) students have been assigned weekly one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions to help navigate the challenges of online learning. Our incredible, nearly 70-person volunteer tutor corps logs on from all corners of the United States (and as far away as Trinidad!) every day.
COVID-19 IMPACT REPORT RELEASED
Our 2019-2020 impact report is now available. It was a challenging year to say the least, and we are extraordinarily proud of our recent accomplishments:
$50,000 in food security support disbursed directly to our families
95% of parents surveyed report that Bronx Lacrosse helped their children remain connected to peers during the COVID shutdown
97% of parents surveyed report that Bronx Lacrosse helped their children maintain a positive frame of mind during the COVID shutdown
Average daily attendance rates improved for all four teams last year (and continue to be significantly above the average daily attendance rates city-wide)

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Community is one of our core values at Bronx Lacrosse. To bring this value to life, earlier today we helped lead a clean up effort at Mullaly Park to actively engage with other community members and serve our neighborhood. We are excited to get involved again this spring.
LACROSSE ALL-STARS VISIT THE BRONX
Some of the world’s best lacrosse players, including Team USA all-star Kylie Ohmiller and PLL pros John Ranagan, Michael Ehrhardt and Justin Guterding, have been out to Mullaly Park to work with our girls and boys this fall. What an awesome opportunity for our kids to learn from the best players on the planet!
NEW DIRECTOR OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
We’re excited to announce our new Director of Youth Development, Jason Perez. Jason brings over a decade of experience with the DREAM organization, both as a participant and employee. He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Based Youth Development and will be driving our work in social emotional learning.
PARTNERSHIP WITH SNACC PROGRAM
We are excited about a new partnership with our partners at Sustainable Nutrition and Community Connection (SNACC). 13 Bronx Lacrosse 8th graders have been chosen to participate in a virtual cooking and nutrition course with SNACC. These selected students receive weekly lessons in the culinary arts from a Bronx-born professional chef and will have fresh ingredients delivered to their homes in advance of each class. As with all of our programming, this is free of cost to our kids.
