Bronx Lacrosse Welcomes Up2Us Sports Summer 2020 VISTAs
Bronx Lacrosse is pleased to announce three Up2Us AmeriCorps Summer VISTA Members: Kori Hambric, Isaac Newland, and Na’sia Smith. The VISTAs will be working as Youth Development Interns for Bronx Lacrosse, which includes engaging students in virtual tutoring, family outreach, and leading various lacrosse and team building activities that are being offered to program participants over the summer.
Kori Hambric just graduated from The City College of New York, majoring in Sociology and Black Studies, with a double minor in Public Policy and Community Change Studies. Over the summer, Kori hopes to serve as a role model to the children she is working with, while also broadening her horizons and engaging in various networking opportunities. In the future, Kori hopes to work with community based organizations that encourage diversity, and serve as an advocate for members in the community she serves. In her free time, Kori enjoys hiking, reading, and exercising.
Isaac Newland is a rising senior lacrosse player at High Point University who is currently majoring in Political Science, with a double minor in Philosophy and Sports Management. He is also a Millis Scholar Athlete, which is a distinguished honor for athletes at High Point University. Post-graduation, Isaac plans to work in the sports management/marketing field. He is also currently a member of the Team Jamaica National Team and his hobbies include listening to music and fishing.
Na’sia Smith just graduated from Rutgers University majoring in English while double minoring African Studies and Education. In the future, Na’sia plans to pursue a graduate degree with a focus on history and education to put her on the path to become an educator. Through the choice of studies, and general life experiences, Na’sia is dedicated and ready to work with the youth as an advocate and supporter. Over the summer, Na’sia hopes to gain new found knowledge that will advance their future as it relates to teaching and youth development, as well as network with like-minded individuals. In their free time, they enjoy writing, watching movies, rollerblading, listening to music, and playing basketball.
Please join us in welcoming our three Summer VISTAs! We are so excited to have them working with Bronx Lacrosse. Welcome, Kori, Isaac, and Na’sia!
