Bronx Lacrosse Announces Two New Board Members
Bronx Lacrosse is pleased to announce the additions of Davon Russell and Brian Carcaterra to its Board of Directors. The appointments of these two new members bring the total number of Board members to 10.
Davon Russell is a long time leader in the South Bronx community, he currently serves as President of WHEDco, a Bronx-based community development nonprofit, where he began his career as a part-time after school teacher and steadily rose through the organization over 20 years.
Under Davon’s supervision, WHEDco’s youth programs—serving infants, toddlers, school-age youth, and teens—have achieved stellar results, city-wide recognition, and steady growth. Davon was appointed by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. to sit on the NYC Department of Education’s Community Education Council and received the PASEsetter Award Certificate in 2001 for his outstanding service to the city’s youth.
Davon is also the co-founder and Board Chair of the South Bronx Early College Academy Charter School, opened in 2015, and serves on the Board of the Grace Church School and DreamYard.
Brian Carcaterra is no stranger to Bronx Lacrosse, as he and his family were the honorees at Bronx Lacrosse’s annual gala in 2019 for their contributions to lacrosse and efforts to expand diversity within the sport.
Brian is a Senior Vice President at CBRE and co-founder of the investment firm, Homewood Real Estate Partners, with 18 years of experience as an owner, broker and consultant in corporate and institutional real estate. Born and raised in Yorktown, NY, Brian played lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University where he was a three time NCAA All American. Following, Brian played in the MLL and was named MLL All Star Player three times.
In addition to several other lacrosse related charitable endeavors, Brian remains active with US Lacrosse, serving on the Executive Committee - Foundation Board and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. He also serves as a Lacrosse Advisory Board Member for Johns Hopkins University.
Please join us in welcoming these two new board members! We are excited about the unique perspectives and passion each will bring to their role on our Board of Directors and to the Bronx Lacrosse organization as a whole. Welcome, Davon and Brian!
