My name is Hailey Arroyo. I'm a 12 year old girl and I’m from the Bronx, NY. I would like to start by thanking Bronx Lacrosse for this amazing opportunity they have given me to be part of JFSLA Camp (Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy).

The JFSLA Camp was an incredible experience for me and there is nothing I didn't love about this camp, mostly because it was my first camp experience. I met new cool friends and I did a lot of activities like community service, team building, and classroom sessions. One of my favorites journal/quotes sessions was when Julie Foudy was the speaker and they taught everyone in the camp about leadership. I also practiced lacrosse with other kids my age and other age groups.

This camp taught me many lessons that will stick with me for the rest of my life such as having an attitude of gratitude and how you can make changes in the world just by starting off small. They taught me how to increase my self confidence by teaching us how to take negative things about yourself and flip it. Flipping something means the opposite, so if you’re going to flip something negative about yourself it will now be positive.

The staff, campers, and lacrosse coaches in the camp were incredible like Dana, Jen, Christen and Taryn. They were really friendly and were always in arms reach if you needed help with anything. For me this is not a camp, this is more like home. I have learned a lot about the camp and achieved some milestones thanks to this opportunity.
