Bronx Lacrosse Fall 2023 Highlights

As we head into the holiday season, please check out the highlights of our most exciting and jam-packed fall programming season to date!

Fall LACROSSE HIGHLIGHTS

Bronx Lacrosse just finished our busiest fall to date with daily lacrosse practices and tutoring sessions. We had the opportunity to travel almost every weekend highlighted by lacrosse trips to Greenwich Academy, the Hackley School, and Manhasset, and the Fall Jam and Gobbler Games tournaments. We even had the chance to participate in the PLL Street Lacrosse event, where Bronx Lacrosse participants got to meet some of the best lacrosse players in the world and legendary basketball player Kevin Durant. Bronx Lacrosse student-athletes have grown on and off the field this fall and we can’t wait to showcase our skills and carry the momentum built up this fall to the spring season.

BRONX LACROSSE TAKES BROADWAY

Bronx Lacrosse continues to enrich young people’s lives off the field. Recently, 45 students traveled to Manhattan to see Broadway’s "Back to the Future." Students enjoyed a pre-show event with food, accessories, and photo opportunities while mingling with other Bronx Lacrosse participants. For many, this was their first Broadway experience, and it was enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you to our friends at Champion Charities for making this happen.

College opportunities

Bronx Lacrosse continues to expand upon our college access programming. High school students attend weekly College Inquiry sessions covering topics like connecting majors to careers, how to apply for financial aid, and what a well-rounded application will look like, either now or in the future. We also had the opportunity to work with several colleges on the lacrosse field this fall, including clinics with Brown University and Manhattan College.

Career day with morgan stanley

Twenty exceptional Bronx Lacrosse high school students had the opportunity to attend a career day at Morgan Stanley’s headquarters in Manhattan. Students participated in a networking lunch, learned about the work of the International Securities Group, attended breakout sessions where they learned about managing money and career development, and toured the Sales & Trading and Global Capital Markets Floors. This was an incredible opportunity for our students to learn about the field of investment management as they consider their future careers aspirations.

healthy eating with SNACC

This fall, we expanded our partnership with Sustainable Nutrition and Community Connection (SNACC) to help our students cultivate healthy habits on and off the field. Bronx Lacrosse 8th grade students participate in 30 weeks of nutritious grocery deliveries to their homes and virtual cooking classes led by a professional chef. In addition to this hallmark program, we are introducing healthy eating habits to our 7th grade participants with monthly workshops on the building blocks of nutrition, healthy portioning, cuisines of diverse cultures, and cooking techniques.

bronx lacrosse rings closing bell at nyse

Bronx Lacrosse had the honor of ringing the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange alongside USA Lacrosse. This occasion marked the launch of ELEVATE28, a visionary mission to increase participation in the sport nationwide due to lacrosse's recent inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games. Bronx Lacrosse was represented by 8th grade participants Rabill and Ichane along with staff members Dan Leventhal and Julie Krupnick. Rabill and Ichane did an excellent job representing the program and had the amazing opportunity to tour the floor of the exchange while meeting some of the biggest names in the sport of lacrosse.

FALL BEnefit success

We are excited to share that our Annual Fall Benefit at the Apawamis Club was an overwhelming success! We are happy to report that over 300 guests attended the event and we surpassed our fundraising goal. With this, we will be able to continue our important work of improving opportunities for our ever-growing number of students. Thank you again to our tremendous honorees, Colin McLane and Michelle Tumolo.
